Under the direction of Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav and the guidance of Assistant Commissioner of Excise, the district excise team conducted raids on various hotels in the city on Thursday night, in preparation for the upcoming assembly elections and Durga Puja celebrations. Early this morning, the team also raided illegal liquor production sites along the Damodar River, within the jurisdiction of Petarwar Police Station.
During the raids, cases are being registered against absconding accused under relevant sections of the Excise Act. The team seized 1,200 kg of raw Mahua and 60 liters of illegally brewed liquor from the site.
The raid team included Excise Inspector Vijay Pal, Sub-Inspector (Sadar and Tenughat) Sunny Vivek Tirkey, and Sub-Inspector (Bermo and Chandpura) Mahesh Das.
