Bulletin India. Dhanbad.
A sensation erupted in the Jorapokhar police station area after the body of a minor was found in a pond. As soon as locals learned about the incident, they gathered at the spot. The body has been identified as that of 15-year-old Rehan Ali, a resident of the Imam Bada area. Rehan lived with his maternal grandmother, as his father had already passed away. He had three sisters, and his mother, Soni, works in Patna.
According to Rehan’s uncle, Vikku, he had left for work on Wednesday but did not return home. Despite extensive searches, no success was found. On Thursday, his body was recovered from the pond. The discovery of the body sparked outrage among the people, who placed it on the Jharia-Sindri main road near Bhaga, blocking the road in protest.
The protesters demanded compensation, and the road remained blocked for more than two hours, causing inconvenience to commuters. Heated exchanges occurred between locals and passersby due to the disruption.
Upon receiving the news, representatives of Jharia MLA Purnima Neeraj Singh, Suraj Singh, and Raju Khan, arrived at the scene. On behalf of the MLA, they provided immediate financial assistance of ₹30,000 and assured the family of government aid. Following this, the body was sent for post-mortem.
The police have launched an investigation to uncover how Rehan drowned in the pond. After the incident, locals questioned the beautification work around the pond, alleging that the deep pits and lack of safety measures contributed to the tragedy.
