Bokaro : In a significant breakthrough during a routine night patrol, Chas police seized a large quantity of illegal Doda from a vehicle near the Bhavanipur-side Shiv Mandir on the Chandankiyari-Chas main road late Tuesday night.
According to the police, a white Tata pickup van approaching from the Chandankiyari side was signaled to stop for routine vehicle checking. However, the driver abandoned the vehicle and attempted to flee the scene. Acting swiftly, the police chased and apprehended the suspect.

Upon interrogation, the accused identified himself as Ghulam Mustafa Dalal, a resident of Muslim Para, Punisol under Oda police station in Bankura district, West Bengal.
During the search of the vehicle, police discovered ten plastic sacks containing a total of 118.432 kilograms of illegal Doda, concealed beneath empty vegetable crates. The accused was immediately taken into custody.
A press conference was held at Chas Police Station where SDPO Praveen Kumar Singh provided details of the seizure. The recovered items included the Tata pickup van, one smartphone, a driving license, and 28 empty vegetable crates.
The raiding team consisted of Police Sub-Inspector Ajay Kumar Singh, Assistant Sub-Inspectors Sandeep Kumar and Ravindra Singh. Chas Police Station in-charge Khurshid Alam and other officers were also present during the operation.
Further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
