DSP Navneet Hembram resigns from police service, speculations about contesting assembly elections

Navneet Hembram, posted as DSP in Zap 9 Sahebganj, has resigned from the police service. However, his resignation has not been accepted yet. There is talk that Navneet Hembram may contest the upcoming elections from Maheshpur assembly constituency.

Navneet Hembram has written in his resignation letter sent to the Home Secretary that he was appointed on 5 April 2013. For the last few months, he has been facing mental stress due to personal and family problems, due to which he is not able to discharge the responsibilities of his post properly. Therefore, he has decided to voluntarily resign from the post of DSP. He has mentioned about resigning two months ago under Police Manual Rule 808.

Letter written to CM

Jhalo Hansda, a resident of Pakur district, has written a letter to the Chief Minister to accept the resignation request of DSP Navneet Hembram. The letter states that Navneet Hembram has previously worked as DSP Headquarters and SDPO Maheshpur in Pakur district, and during this time he has gained good influence among the villagers. It is being told that he has requested to resign from the post keeping in mind the possibilities of his candidature in the upcoming 2024 assembly elections from Maheshpur assembly constituency. In the letter, an appeal has been made to immediately relieve the said officer from service. He is a resident of Tisri village of BJP state president Babulal Marandi and is considered close to him. It is believed that BJP can make Navneet its candidate from Maheshpur.
