Bulletin India. Ranchi.
Under the initiative of Jharkhand DGP Anurag Gupta, a public grievance redressal program was organized across 21 districts of the state. Thousands of people filed their complaints, with most expressing dissatisfaction towards the police. Senior police officers are now reviewing these complaints to ensure appropriate action is taken.
Orders for Action Within 15 Days
The public’s frustration with delayed responses to their complaints has been increasing. To address this, the DGP had ordered grievance redressal camps to be set up in all districts. During these camps, officers at the level of IG, DIG, SSP, and SP listened to public complaints. Now, a thorough review of all cases is underway to identify responsible officers and take necessary actions. The DGP has directed that action be taken within 15 days.
DGP to Oversee Case Reviews
DGP Anurag Gupta said the public grievance program received a good response, but it will only be truly effective if action follows. He mentioned that a review meeting will be held with senior officers, and after that, they will be sent back to the grievance camps to assess the situation on the ground.
Strict Action Against Negligent Policemen
The DGP made it clear that when a policeman or station in-charge responds to a victim’s complaint, they are merely fulfilling their duty, not doing any favors. If, after review, a policeman is found guilty of negligence, strict action will be taken. Additionally, if it is revealed that an innocent person was wrongfully imprisoned, the responsible officers will face severe consequences.
