Commenting on the incident, DGP Anurag Gupta expressed dismay over a soldier being sent to jail, calling it a matter of regret. “A soldier of the country ending up in jail is unfortunate and should not happen,” he said. What Led to the Incident?

According to family members, the incident stemmed from a dispute between Vijay Rai and a youth named Chhotu, who drives a vehicle for the Jugsalai police station. On March 14, Vijay Rai was summoned to the police station regarding the matter. Suraj Rai accompanied his cousin to inquire about the situation. However, upon seeing Suraj Rai, the police personnel allegedly lost their temper. The soldier and his cousin were reportedly subjected to abusive language and physical assault at the station. Subsequently, both were sent to jail. Suraj Rai’s family alleges that he was beaten by the police, a claim that has sparked outrage.
