Advocate Arup Chakraborty, a resident of Kala Pathar of Chas block of Bokaro district and practising in Bokaro court, was attacked in the court premises on Monday. He suffered serious injuries in this attack. The attackers also tore Advocate Chakraborty’s coat and band and also took money from his pocket. When a large number of advocates gathered there during the incident, the accused fled from there.
In this case, Advocate Chakraborty has applied to register an FIR in B.S. City police station, on which action is underway. Condemning this attack, Advocate Ranjit Giri, National Council Member of Indian Association of Lawyers, said that at present the police administration is proving unsuccessful in protecting the advocates. He warned that if the accused are not arrested within 24 hours, then all the advocates of Bokaro will be forced to protest.
Ranjit Giri has demanded the government to implement the Advocate Protection Act in Jharkhand. Prominent advocates who condemned this incident include Dinesh Prasad Sharma, Somnath Shekhar, Atul Kumar, Deepika Singh, Sanjit Kumar Singh and many other advocates. After this incident, there is a lot of anger among the advocates and they are demanding justice.
Let us tell you that within the last one month, four advocates have been beaten up.
