Children Join “Helmet Man of India” and “Vishwa Nishane Par Hai” in a Heartfelt Raksha Bandhan Celebration, Highlighting the Bond Between Safety and Sustainability.
August 18, 2024 –In a memorable Raksha Bandhan celebration, Mr. Raghvendra Kumar, the “Helmet Man of India,” partnered with the world acclaimed “Vishwa Nishane Par Hai” Climate Crisis Awareness Campaign for a unique event, held under the guiding theme of proactive practices and actions, at AWHO Gurjinder Vihar Central Park, Greater Noida.
Climate-conscious children, who arrived on bicycles, participated in a symbolic ceremony where they tied rakhis on trees, and the trees then “gifted” them helmets. This event underscored the vital link between personal safety and environmental stewardship, emphasizing the shared responsibility to protect both lives and the planet, highlighting the urgent need to protect our planet from the ongoing climate crisis.
Mr. Raghvendra Kumar, the “Helmet Man of India,” expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the overwhelming support the event received and said, “This collaboration with the ‘Vishwa Nishane Par Hai’ campaign, led by the climate practitioner and poet Dr. Nikhil Kant and convened by Dr. K Anjali, has been truly special. Together, we have shown that protecting oneself, whether through wearing a helmet or safeguarding the climate, is intricately linked to our greater responsibility of caring for others and the planet.”
Dr. Nikhil Kant, climate practitioner who founded the “Vishwa Nishane Par Hai” campaign in 2004, spoke about the crucial role each of us plays in tackling the climate crisis.”
The rakhis tied today symbolize our commitment to caring for the planet, and the children’s involvement serves as a reminder of our duty to pass on environmental stewardship values to future generations. ” He also moved the audience with a recital of his famous poem, “Badal Rahi Jalvayu Vishwa Nishane Par Hai,” further raising awareness of the climate crisis.
A special highlight was climate activist Mehransh Mridul’s heartfelt recital of a poem “Neend na ab aayegi lori sunkar nani’ from Dr. Nikhil Kant’s “Vishwa Nishane Par Hai” hindi poetry series, crafted to raise children’s awareness about the climate crisis.
Dr. K. Anjali, Convener of the “Vishwa Nishane Par Hai” campaign and Director of the VNPH Foundation, highlighted the importance of individual proactive actions in addressing the climate crisis, and stated, “Rakhi is a festival that symbolizes the bonds of protection and care within our society as a whole, not just between brothers and sisters. The rakhis tied today represent our collective commitment to nurturing our beloved planet. ” She also recited the poem “Hum Jaage Hai Jag Ko Aaj Jagaane Par Hai” from Dr. Nikhil Kant’s “Vishwa Nishane Par Hai” Hindi poetry series to inspire hope and resilience among the children.
The event ended with a pledge from all attendees to advocate for road safety and climate action, emphasizing sustainable living. The collaboration between the “Helmet Man of India” and the “Vishwa Nishane Par Hai” campaign highlighted how individual actions can create a meaningful societal impact.
