The body of 10th class student Piyush Singh, who drowned in the Jumar river of the capital Ranchi, was recovered by the NDRF team on Monday morning after 36 hours. The deceased was a student of Manan Vidya Mandir located at Booti Mod. He was originally a resident of Gaya district of Bihar. Lived in the school hostel only.
It is being told that Piyush along with four-five of his friends had escaped from the school hostel late on Saturday night. All the students were sneaking out of the hostel. No one was aware of his going out. Even the hostel management was not aware of this. During this time an accident happened. The school manager came to know about this when other students returned to the hostel. After that the police was informed. A search for Piyush was started with the help of local divers but nothing was found. After this, the NDRF team was informed about this on Sunday. As soon as the information was received, the NDRF team reached the spot and started removing the body from the river. The body was searched throughout the day on Sunday but nothing could be found. A search operation was also conducted on Monday. After which Piyush’s body was recovered.
According to the information received from the police, students named Piyush, Pratap Kumar, Abhishek, Vaibhav and Ashish lived in the hostel of Manan Vidyalaya. At around 1 o’clock on Saturday night, the five students jumped down from the hostel wall and were planning to cross the Jumar river and go somewhere. Meanwhile, Pratap and Abhishek started crossing the river, but Pratap started drowning in the strong current. Seeing this, Piyush jumped into the river to save him. He saved Pratap, but he himself drowned in the water.
After the incident, four students returned to the hostel, meanwhile the security guard stopped them after seeing them. When interrogated, the students gave information about the entire incident. After this, on the information of the school management, the police of Sadar police station reached the spot at 2 o’clock in the night. Help of local divers was taken. But Piyush was not found. After this, NDRF was called on Sunday afternoon and the search was started.
