Dhanbad: Two fake candidates were caught during the Navodaya Vidyalaya entrance examination at Project Kanya High School, Tundi. Both individuals hail from Itari village in the Buxar district of Bihar and are currently enrolled at Navodaya Vidyalaya in Benagadia.

One of the imposters was appearing for the exam in place of Samir Kumar, while the other was sitting in for Nitish Kumar. Their significantly older appearance raised suspicions among the exam authorities. On verifying their documents, officials discovered the fraud. Both imposters confessed to appearing in the examination on behalf of others.

The accused revealed that they studied under a teacher named Uday Sir in their village, who facilitated their admission to Navodaya Vidyalaya in Benagadia. Reportedly, the teacher arranged for their leave from school, altered the admit cards, and brought them to the examination center. After being caught, the minors appeared frightened and remorseful.

Magistrate and observer Deepa Sinha, who was overseeing the examination, confirmed that a written complaint has been lodged with the Tundi police. According to Tundi Station Officer Uma Shankar, the complaint names four individuals, including the two original students for whom the imposters were appearing, and the teacher involved in orchestrating the fraud. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.

It is worth noting that similar incidents were reported last year, where fake candidates were allegedly allowed to take exams in exchange for hefty sums. Although the issue created a stir initially, it eventually faded without any conclusive action. This year, the names Samir Kumar and Nitish Kumar have surfaced in yet another case of fraudulent examination practices.
