Ranchi : Ranchi police have arrested three individuals involved in a counterfeit currency racket. The accused have been identified as Sahil Kumar alias Karan, Mohammed Sabir alias Raja, and Abbu Huzaifa alias Afridi alias Aryan. Authorities have seized counterfeit currency worth ₹4,99,800, along with two genuine ₹500 notes, a motorcycle, and six mobile phones.

Ranchi City SP Rajkumar Mehta disclosed the details during a press briefing. Acting on a tip-off received by DIG and Ranchi Police Captain Chandan Kumar Sinha, a team was formed to investigate suspicious activities in the Kuldeep School Lane area under the Argora Police Station jurisdiction. The suspects were allegedly supplying counterfeit notes to a client.

The police raided the location and apprehended the trio. During questioning, the accused revealed that they operated as part of an organized criminal gang and had been running the counterfeit currency racket for over a year. The investigation has also uncovered the involvement of several other individuals from Ranchi in this illegal operation.

Authorities are now working to identify and apprehend the gang’s mastermind. The operation was successfully executed by SI Mukesh Kumar Upadhyay, Abhishek Kumar, Anand Kumar Sah, and constables Suraj Khadia and Sushil Minz, whose efforts have been highly commended.
