Kolkata : The Hindi Fortnight celebrations commenced on Monday at the South Eastern Railway Headquarters, Garden Reach. The event was inaugurated by Anil Kumar Mishra, General Manager, South Eastern Railway, who lit the ceremonial lamp to mark the beginning of the fortnight-long programme.

 

Present on the occasion were Soumitra Majumdar, Additional General Manager, Narendra, Chief Official Language Officer and Principal Financial Adviser, along with all Principal Heads of Departments, senior officers, and staff members.

 

During the fortnight, a series of competitions will be organized, including Hindi Essay Writing, Noting & Drafting, Speech Competition, Quiz Competition, Dinkar Jayanti, and Calligraphy. Winners of these competitions will be felicitated with prizes.

 

In his address, the General Manager emphasized the importance of promoting the use of Hindi as a constitutional responsibility. “Every year, we pledge to expand and encourage the use of our official language Hindi. This year too, South Eastern Railway is organizing the Hindi Fortnight from September 14 to September 28 with various events and contests for officers and employees. I hope that everyone participates enthusiastically,” he said.

 

On the inaugural day, a Hindi Quiz Competition for officers was held at the General Manager’s chamber. The quiz was conducted successfully by Smt. Basanti Tete, Deputy General Manager (Official Language), while the vote of thanks was delivered by Narendra, Chief Official Language Officer.
