Bokaro: In a shocking incident of theft, ₹1 lakh was stolen from a customer’s bag in broad daylight at the main branch of the State Bank of India (SBI) located in City Centre, Bokaro Steel City.

According to reports, 58-year-old Bharat Singh, a resident of Mahato Colony on Teli Dih Road in Chas, had withdrawn ₹6 lakh from the Central Bank of India. He then visited the SBI branch to deposit ₹2 lakh. While he was filling out a deposit slip, four unidentified individuals engaged him in conversation under the pretext of helping him with the form. Taking advantage of the distraction, the culprits discreetly took ₹1 lakh from his bag and fled the scene.

Upon realizing the theft, Bharat Singh immediately lodged a complaint at the Sector-04 police station. In response, the police have started reviewing CCTV footage from the bank to identify and apprehend the culprits.

Authorities have advised bank customers to remain vigilant and exercise caution while interacting with unknown individuals inside banking premises.
