Dumka : Six Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) were suspended on Monday for being absent from duty despite being assigned for Holi duty. Dumka Superintendent of Police (SP) Pitambar Singh Kherwar took strict action against five ASIs from Jama police station and one from Ramgarh police station. Additionally, five police personnel deployed in the control room were also suspended with immediate effect.

In light of the Holi festival, the SP had assigned police officers across all police stations to ensure law and order. To check their presence on duty, the SP conducted a surprise inspection on the evening of March 14. Upon reaching Jama police station, he found that five ASIs Virendra Kumar, Kaushalendra Kumar Sinha, Rajeev Ranjan Sharma, Manoj Kumar Singh, and Shailesh Kumar Gupta were absent. It was later discovered that they had left for their homes to celebrate Holi without informing the police station.

Similarly, when the SP visited Ramgarh police station, ASI Prahlad Kumar Rai was also found missing. Further, five constables Munna Kumar Mandal, Bhagwan Lal Marandi, Kundan Chaudhary, Havildar Dinesh Bara, and Baburam Marandi who were deployed at the control room to maintain peace and respond to emergencies during Holi, were also found absent from duty.

SP Kherwar stated that all the officers were suspended for negligence of duty. He emphasized that any kind of carelessness or indifference towards duty would not be tolerated.
