Bokaro: In a significant breakthrough against vehicle theft, Bokaro Police have recovered 11 stolen motorcycles and arrested two bike thieves, providing much-needed relief to residents of Bokaro, particularly those living in the Bokaro Steel City area, which has recently witnessed a spike in motorcycle thefts.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Harvinder Singh held a press conference at the Sector-04 police station, where he informed the media that on June 5, the police received intelligence inputs about certain individuals conducting reconnaissance for committing theft. Acting swiftly on this tip-off, a special team was formed under the leadership of City Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Alok Ranjan.
The police action led to the arrest of three individuals and the recovery of 11 stolen two-wheelers. Among the arrested, one is a minor. The other two accused have been identified as 18-year-old Shiv Kumar and 45-year-old Pandu Munda. Shockingly, both were found to be living in the verandah of Bank of Baroda located in City Centre Market — which they were using as their makeshift residence.
SP Harvinder Singh was accompanied by City DSP Alok Ranjan, Sector-04 Police Station in-charge Sanjay Kumar, and City Police Station in-charge Sudama Kumar Das during the press briefing.
The investigation is ongoing, and further recoveries and arrests are expected as part of the crackdown on the organized vehicle theft racket operating in the region.
